Mentoring with Energy - Mentoring Circles

We’re excited to announce that Mentoring Circles are now being launched. These innovative and interactive development opportunities are open to people working in the oil and gas/energy sector in the North East of Scotland.

A Mentoring Circle is a peer-to-peer mentoring format that helps you learn and develop as a group. 8-10 people with a shared interest meet once a month for 6 months in a confidential environment.

The first in our programme of Mentoring Circles are:

Moving up: This Circle addresses the issues some women in the oil & gas/energy sector face when taking their career to the next level.

It’s aimed at women working at management level and ambitious to move into a senior management/leadership role. Lead mentor: Carla Riddell, SVP West of Shetland, Spirit Energy. You can read her blog here.

There are a limited number of places available, closing date is 7th February. Those allocated a place will be informed week commencing 10th February. The first meeting will take place over lunch at 12.00pm on Monday 17th February.

Energy Transition: The focus of this circle is to support middle and senior leaders working in the oil and gas/energy sector to consider their personal transitions as leaders responding to the challenges and opportunities of a low carbon future. More information regarding dates and content will be available on the Mentoring with Energy website in early February.

Lead mentors: Colette Cohen, CEO and Myrtle Dawes, Solution Centre Director, the Oil and Gas Technology Centre (OGTC).

You can find out more information and apply to join a circle on the Mentoring with Energy website

Are you committed to developing the next generation? Would you like to shape the STEM agenda?

A cross-section of oil and gas industry professional have joined forces to look at ways to align their support for young people in the STEM arena. The collaboration aims to add value to existing projects and inspire new initiatives. This includes promoting career opportunities to attract, retain and engage the people our industry needs.

Our next meeting takes place on Wednesday 26th February 2020. If you would like to get involved, please register here.

Changing, collaborating and connecting - embracing the needs of tomorrow's talent:

The OGTC is revolutionising industry mentoring through a pioneering app aimed at developing a diverse oil and gas talent pool. The Mentoring with Energy Programme is harnessing the power of app technology, alongside traditional mentoring techniques, to initially match and then connect mentees with suitable mentors. Once successful, it will provide a truly flexible approach to mentoring, connecting people across the industry to ensure tomorrow's workforce is supported today.

The app will be officially launched at Offshore Europe on Friday 6th September at the OGTC stand (3B70), where potential mentors and mentees are invited to find out more and express an interest in signing up.
