The Oil and Gas Technology Centre (OGTC), in collaboration with the Exploration Task Force, wanted to explore how the use of sophisticated digital analytics techniques, such as machine learning, can help highlight and high-grade remaining exploration potential in the North Sea.
Using an area of the Northern North Sea containing over 3,500 wells, 4 technology developers took the challenge to ‘prove the value of machine learning in building trusted and conditioned datasets from historical data that will enable automated interpretation to assist traditional subsurface workflows in rapidly identifying additional resources’
This webinar series is their story about how they tackled the challenge, exploring the different approaches adopted by each of the technology developers, the technical challenges of dealing with a large dataset of varying data quality and vintage, and how successful the machine are at finding pay.
Webinar 1 - 4th June, 14:00-16:00, Data Conditioning for Machine Learning
The focus of this webinar will be the challenge of taking a large dataset and creating a conditioned dataset optimised for use in machine learning. The second talk will also introduce the identification of potential opportunities through the application of advanced analytical techniques.
