Lucy Crane, Senior Geologist - Business Development, Cornish Lithium

If something hasn't been grown then it must have been mined. Georesources are key to our modern lives and they're also playing a key role in the energy transition away from fossil fuels and towards a low carbon future. Decarbonising the economy is going to require extraction of more raw materials in the next 25 years than in the past 5,000 years combined to build low carbon technologies such as wind turbines and electric vehicles*.

Lithium is a major component of lithium-ion batteries –there is potential to produce it in the UK. This talk will look at Cornish Lithium's exploration programme for lithium contained within geothermal waters, and the opportunities for extraction of technology metals in the South West of England.
