Francis Cram, CEO, MapStand Limited
MapStand launched a free mapping platform at the end of 2019 and today has a thriving user community helping to build our global database of licences, wells, fields, infrastructure and the location of industry surveys and studies like seismic data. MapStands ambition is to build a business that maintains an open access interactive web map of the oil and gas industry so anyone, anywhere can easily analyse and track the industry. A heavy reliance on automation and the ability to engage a user community to crowdsource quality control and new datasets enables us to open access critical information needed to understand and analyse the industry and deliver change.
Francis, CEO and Founder of MapStand, studied Geology at Bristol and Petroleum Geoscience at Manchester University before joining Core Laboratories as a Geologist. In 2009 Francis joined a start-up oil company, Hansa Hydrocarbons, focussing on the Southern North Sea. Over the next 9 years Hansa built a portfolio of assets across the UK, Netherlands, Germany and Denmark with exploration success at the Ruby well in the Netherlands in 2017 a key highlight. In 2018 Francis founded MapStand a tech business aimed at solving many of the issues companies face in analysing the activities of the upstream oil and gas industry.
