Artificial Intelligence (AI) will shape the way we live and work, leading to a future we can't predict today. It is largely fuelled by how we now live our lives....including some of our most private interactions online - or even overheard by connected home devices. This creates a challenging dilemma for innovation; balancing the needs of a modern society to innovate and improve while protecting our privacy. In this Tech20, Ross will share some of his experience advising on technology innovation, looking at what he calls the "three Es of AI innovation" - Engagement, Ethics and Evaluation. He will also shine a light on what data protection laws including the well-known GDPR requirements of innovators.

Ross’s Bio:

Ross works across the UK advising some of the country's best-known brands on how to use personal information in a way that meets the complex requirements of data protection law including the GDPR. A qualified data protection practitioner with over a decade of experience in data, he is based in Aberdeen and has an expertise in the energy industry, advising digital technology companies in the city on how to maximize value in IP and data.
