Tanya Knowles, Senior GIS and Mapping Manager, Oil & Gas Authority (OGA)

Tanya joins this Tech20 to talk about how data forms a key part of maximising economic recovery for the UK continental shelf (MER UK) and how the OGA is helping the industry to make the necessary changes.

The OGA was formed in April 2015 following the Wood Review, looking at UK offshore oil and gas recovery and its regulation, with the OGA's main purpose being to fully support MER UK.

Data and spatial data is a key part of MER UK and due to this, the OGA has collected and continues to collect data from licence holders in the North Sea on a daily basis. It is working to improve the collection, quality and reporting of over 40 years-worth of data and in early 2019, the OGA will launch a National Data Repository, which is the first of its kind in the UK. This will provide enormous value to the industry by providing access to timely, transparent petroleum data.

Join this Tech20 to find out more about the National Data Repository, as well as the OGA’s ArcGIS platform and their Open Data portal, which relaunched in April 2018.
