The OGTC DataFest is an opportunity for Industry leaders, practioners, data scientists, data analysts and academics to come together and explore the current challenges in making data much more available to the industry, to solve challenges, and to provide the data sets for research and enabling the creation of a vibrant ecosystem supporting a culture of innovation.

Organisations throughout the industry are beginning to invest heavily in technologies that provide a capability for utilising data to solve industry challenges and become more data driven.  However, one of the biggest challenges remaining is to create the right technical, legal and governance framework to give organisations the confidence to “share” data that might be considered IP or sensitive.   This is critical challenge to overcome so that we can run analysis at an industry level and develop the large training datasets that AI will need to solve many of the industries challenges.  A “Data Trust” can be considered a mechanism by which data can be stored and shared appropriately and securely amongst various interested parties which share a common objective.

In this event we will have several speakers who will share how other industries and our own is approaching this challenge and finish with a lively discussion on the opportunities for creating pilots to move the industry forward.

This event is for all those interested in solving the critical challenge of enabling the industry to collaborate around data. Our guest speakers are:

- James Smith, CTO, Projecting Success
- David Lecore, Compliance Manager, The Oil & Gas Authority
- Callum James, Partner, Head of Technology & Commercial, Burness Paull
- Dr Lesley Holdsworth, Clinical Lead for Digital Health & Care, Scottish Government

The event will formally finish at 2pm with networking and further discussion until 3pm.
