ModSim is an advanced analytical software system that has been developed and used over the last 25 years to assist in the build, operation, refit and decommissioning of nuclear aircraft carriers and submarines as well as the decommissioning and legacy management of nuclear power plants. Over the last 25 years, ModSim has grown in to a software suite that can process large amounts of data to assist in the build process through adaptive planning, augmented reality, as well as provide a training platform once in operational mode, and look at the complexities of decommissioning.

Mike aims to provide a short overview of the capabilities of the system, the initial work undertaken in migrating the software platform to be able to plan and manage a topsides shutdown and the potential other uses that ModSim could readily be adapted for and what benefits this system has over the current methods and practices that the industry uses to perform this work.
