Join us for a day at the James Hutton Institute, Aberdeen, and gain a better understanding of various analytical services specifically Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infra Red Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Heavy Isotope Analysis. Discover how these techniques are applied by expert scientists at the Institute to deliver invaluable, integrated, accurate results which save money and time for businesses.

The day will include presentations, laboratory tours, an opportunity to view instrumentation used (including the newly purchased Thermal Ionisation Mass Spectrometer (TIMS)) and see some of it in action. Presentations will be given by world leading experts from the James Hutton Institute including Steve Hillier (XRD), Jean Robertson (FTIR), Evelyne Delbos (SEM) and Carol-Ann Craig (TIMS). You will also hear from John McBride of Aberdeen based, Isotopic Ltd, expert in the interpretation of isotope analysis. Recent case studies will be provided by all.

This event will appeal to those keen to develop their understanding of the science and interpretation behind analytical results – what happens to samples when we receive them, how do we ensure accuracy and how do we guarantee consistency and quality? It is an opportunity to hear up to date discoveries and ask questions directly to scientists who between them, have over a century of experience in problem solving for industry.
